Time Lapse Photography in Nature

Time Lapse Photography in Nature

Ok, I’m 40 now and my body definitely isn’t the same as it was 20 years ago. It’s been 20 years since I started the SikhNet website. That’s a lot of hours sitting at a desk on the computer. I have to make a point to make sure I get out and move my body. One of the ways I have been doing this is by going walking in the hills by the Gurdwara and SikhNet office early in the morning before work.

I have always loved photography, however it’s nice to explore new things. Last year I started playing around with time-lapse photography using my iPhone. When I walk in the hills I sometimes set my phone down and capture a scene of landscapes as the clouds roll by or something changes. It’s so beautiful seeing the end result. I have since explored other methods of taking actual picture over a long period of time vs. videos. I’m still new to this, but it’s something that I have been enjoying while being out in nature.

Here is a compilation of some time lapse videos I made in 2015. This was my first little compilation recorded with my iPhone and edited together :)

Yesterday I had a rare day all to myself. My wife is in India…and my daughter went for an overnight birthday party, so I decided to drive up to the mountains above Los Alamos (Pajarito Mountain) to spend some time hiking in nature. Though I was in nature it was fun sharing the amazing views by doing some live periscope broadcasts. This video was recorded primarily with my DSLR Camera (Canon 5D Mark II) and 17-40mm lens….though you’ll see some of the video clips from my phone that were of me doing a live periscope broadcast of the scenery while I was waiting/recording on my other camera.
