Why be Vegetarian?

Why be Vegetarian?

Here is one topic that is always a hot button subject for many Sikhs. Typically most Sikhs refrain from eating meat, however there are many mixed opinions and practices. In this video Guruka Singh answers a SikhNet user’s question about this topic and hopefully gives you some new things to think about.

Are Sikhs allowed to eat meat? Beef ? What are the benefits of being Vegetarian? (Excerpt from Q&A with youth) [Audio:http://www.mrsikhnet.com/mp3player/educational/siri%20singh%20sahib/singapore%20q-a%20with%20youth/eating%20meet%20and%20being%20vegetarian.mp3]

Well by that mean you should eat it… but your first preference is to avoid that stuff if you know that it is with a thing that is certainly related like your body. At the same time i would recommend you to eat that if you have nothing to eat at that moment of time…

Siri Singh Sahib ji in his punjabi audio said that you could easily put a knife on an animal and eat it with much joy… just try to do it(with knife) with yourself.

And just think about this shabad..

You kill living beings, and call it a righteous action.
Tell me, brother, what would you call an unrighteous action?
You call yourself the most excellent sage; then who would you call a butcher? ((2))
