Kundalini Yoga Classes Taught at Punjabi University of Patiala Punjabi University of Patiala, India recently hosted Hari Bhajan Kaur Khalsa of Espanola, New Mexico, to teach Kundalini Yoga to their staff and students this past March. The idea was initiated by Dr. Balkar Singh, Former Head of Siri Guru Granth Sahib Studies at Punjabi University for many years, Former Director of the Guru Ram Das Institute of Language and Culture in Espanola, NM and close friend of the Siri Singh Sahib. Dr. Balkar’s intention was to inspire young Punjabis to maintain their Sikh identity through a strong example of a western Sikh youth, and to impact their mind, body and souls with Kundalini Yoga.

Punjabi University offers high school education, undergraduate and graduate degrees and is strong in Sikh Studies. Despite being exam time, many students participated enthusiastically in the classes. During the ten days, Hari Bhajan Kaur taught over 100 individuals and many attended several classes. Students reported increased levels of concentration, flexibility and strength, expanded consciousness, headache relief, and weight loss.

After the final class, Hari Bhajan Kaur was honored with a beautiful phulkari, a traditional Punjabi hand embroidered shawl. Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Jaspal Singh knew the Siri Singh Sahib and actually visited him in Espanola years ago to help establish the Guru Ram Das Institute of Language and Culture. He spoke passionately about the Siri Singh Sahib, his tireless effort to exalt the Sikh Panth in the Western Hemisphere. Dr. Jaspal Singh plans to continue supporting Kundalini Yoga classes at Punjabi University of Patiala in the future and hopes to offer classes in both Punjabi and English.

It is amazing to see the seed planted by the Siri Singh Sahib over the years have begun to sprout!
