Gurumustak singh, The back ground music is too loud, and it gets annoying when we are really trying to focus on Shanti kaur ji’s lecture. It should be at low volume.

However, Thank you for your hard work and giving us the oppurtunity to understand Guruji better!!! I had squeezing feeling in my throat while listening to it. Its a really great love!

    thank you!

I really liked this katha. Where can you visit the two wells where the water of one is salty and the other one ok?

I thought I’d also bring to your attention that the audio hukamnama to the right seems slightly corrupted (speech wise).

Thanks for all the good work.

Sikh ladies should not be referred to as singhni, but as kaurs,

even the ardas refers to kaurs as singhni and not kaurs

it has become everday parlance to refer to sikh ladies as singhni, when in fact they should be kaurs

    just my humble opinion

    Hello,

Thank you for a great and really informative video. I have spoken to a few elders in my community about this question about Guru Gobind Singh’s three wives. The ones that makes the most sense to people of Punjabi origin even today is that Mata Ajit Ji could only give Guru Gobind Singh ji one son. Even today in modern Punjab you can find families where the husband may have taken on a second wife to bear children when the first wife is unable to give children. The first wifes stays in the same home as a full and welcome member of the family. The husband only has one conjugal relationship.

In regard to Mata Ajit ji’s death a well held belief is that she asked Guru Gobind Singh about all four childrens future marriages when they they were small and it became clear to her then that they would die. She did want to bear witness to their marriages and not deaths and so stated she wished to leave for Sach Khand.

    I strongly object here!

Nij nari sang neh tum nit badeho..

Par nari ki sej supne me na jahio!

That is what guru have taught us ..

I have really been away from the path of guru and am seeking the charan – dhoor of shanti kaur khalsa ji .. if she have researched on this !
    & guru ji himself said

    Khalsa mero roop hai khas….

& as the top video of jugat guru singh khalsa ji in this blog shows that he has given us the opportunity to be like him …

So he has set a path which he expects us to follow

& from his teachings till now I cant see any place where he has asked his sikhs to have 2 women!!

About Shanti kaur ji s claim of compiling dasham granth!

Most of the sikh scholars dont consider the whole bani is of guru ji ( as it is indeed different from what guru granth sahib ji says) and is a different matter to be discussed! but I cant expect Sikhs to read that Guru Ji had two wives and his wife compiled dasan granth ji!

    Gurfateh!

Dear Well-wishers of the Guru Panth Globally,
Waheguru jee ka Khalsa Waheguru jee kee Fateh
At the end of this year, my wife will be going to Punjab and desired information is made available, I will request her to visit there:
    1. Exact location of both the wells – saltish and normal drinkable water as well as Guru Kaa Lahore.
    2. At the age of 75, whether late Harbhajan Singh jee also breathed his last in October 2004 like Mata Jito jee because he too was merged in continuous meditation for long hours.
    3. For your information Guru Gobind Singh Sahib was born on 22 December 1666 when his father Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib was of 45 years.
    4. Please use your own Bebek Budhi – brain/intellect and do not depend on hearsay or subsequent fables written to confuse Sikhs since
King Dasrath was having three queens.
    5. Guru Gobind Singh Sahib was having only One Wife
    whatever the name may be.
    Avoid miraculous narrations. thanks,

    Dear Jaskooran Singh Ji,
Waheguru ji ka khalsa wahwguur ji ki fateh.

    1. You say that because Mata Ajit couldnt bear Guru Ji nay more sons…Guru Ji married once more?
Isnt this a tardy bit too worldly a motive to assign to Guru Ji ? Guru nanak ji only had two sons..He didn’t marry again to get two more ??
Guru Teg Bahadur Ji had only ONE Son….Guru Arjun Ji also had only ONE son….

Its sansaree jeevs like us..who desire sons..more sons..and yet more sons…like Ravan had countless wives and countless sons..yet he had to leave this world just like anyone one of us…
Punjabis carry a lot of useless baggage…like the “need” for a SON…they abort girls and burn daughters in law who give birth to only Girls..Guru Ji wasnt “Punjabi”…He came for the entire Humanity..He wouldnt be carrying any such baggage.

imho..Guur Ji only had one wife as per the teachings of Gurbani and His HUKM. IF the one wife cant give birth..then thas His HUKM..and Guru ji would be the last person to go against that. The more plausible explanation is that the one wife has three “names”..as is usual in Punjabi families. The Mother in law will usually give a brand new name to her daughter in law..Thus Ajit would be perhaps “Sundari” to her mum-in-law (because the new daughter in law is so beautiful ??)
    3. Anyway imho..its a futile effort to assign motives and such to Guru Ji..what Guru Ji did or didnt do is His MAUJ and His CHOJ. But Guur Ji certainly wouldnt fall victim to “social norms”…Punjabi society of that time…Guru Ji came to CHANGE..not conform.

Here i must put down my heartfelt appreciation of this site..and SikhNet and the wonderful sewadaars who put up so many wonderful clips on You tube…Guru Ji Kirpa karan..these sikhs get His Blessings always… Me and my Gurbani students enjoy all these immensely and learn a lot..Keep it up Jio.

    Humbly yours
    Jarnail Singh

    Sat Shiri Akal

It appears to me that many people nowadays are judging the history in the current politically correct terms, they are willing to re-write the history and do not want to research the truth.

As growing up in Punjab in the wise men and women’s company, I am surprised that people are not educated in their history and do not understand the background of events and are willing to change the events.

I have seen the changes where Sikh culture is changing to the extend that they are disrespecting many things that were import to previous Sikhs.

It is worth remembering that in Punjab’s histories many ups and downs have let to the most of the important writings being destroyed. People who only rely on the documentation and not the history carried forward with word of mouth how can we prove any thing. Most of our wisdom is carried forward with word of mouth, generation by generation.

People who say that because you cannot see god it does not exist. You can reason with them.

    As I understood,

Guru Gobind Singh’s wife mata Jitto ji, mother and grandmother persuaded him to remarry, as they didn’t had any child.

Mata Sundery (Second wife) gave birth to Ajit Singh (first, son),
Mata Jitto ji (First wife) Gave birth to Zuzar Singh (second son),
Mata Sundery (Second wife) gave birth to Fateh Singh and Zorawar Singh (third and fourth son).

In short, some time after that Mata Sahib Kaur’s father stood up in the front of the sangat in a diwan/program with his palla open for bagging the Guru ji to marry his daughter, Guru ji, finally accepted and said that she will be the mother of Khalsa.

These were cultural normal, if you bother to read the history, you will find out that they weren’t treated like his possession. They played an important part in our history.

On top of my thought, I can think of few things

There is place (Guruduara) where mata Jitto ji left her body in Anandpur Sahib.

Mata Sundery and Sahib Kaur left Anandpur Sahib with a sikh (cannot remember his name now) just before guruji abandoned anandpur sahib

Song and poemsand are written referring to the deaths of the four son of the guruji and when the mothers met guruji later on asking him where their son were, remember m,ata jitto ji has already left her body before the deaths of the sahib zade (the four sons).

After the Guruji passed away, in hazur sihid (in the south) and Banda Singh Bahadur was ruling in some part of the Punjab or punished the people responsible for the deaths of the younger sahib zade, there is reference to the correspondence his had from mata sundery in the history. I have also studied Punjab history in the college in India. Mata Sundery was leading Sikh panth during the time of Banda Bahadur

There are so many things that were part of the sikh faith are slowly taken away from the future Sikhs and distorted if I may say.

I grow up in the society, where sadhu’s and sants were respected regardless of their background. My grand father always touched their feets and used to teach us that you never know who is the enlightened one, As far as we were concerned we were following the guru granth sahib’s teachings where is said that don’t ask for the caste of the saint, ask/seek for their knowledge.

Nowadays, it seems that, if things are left to the narrow minded, hard liners who are not literate in their history or wisdom of the guru granth sahib would rewrite the history themselves. The some time come across like they are from some fundament faiths and belief systems that Gurujis were fighting against and many Sikh gave their lives.

Are these Sikhs are ambarrased that Guru Gobind singh was highly literate and very open minded? He used hindu or none current sikh word or terminologies that you are so against? Why cannot they understand that Guru Gobind Singh’s personality, abilities, political landscape, timely requirements and all the other conditions were different from the first five gurus and saint’s who’s bani is forming the Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Granth Sahib ji is teaching us about spiritual-human journey and guru Gobind Singh was writing when he was challenging the king and paharie rajas. Just check out the number languages he was fluent in. How can they even begin to understand where he was coming from if they are not broad minded or enlighten beings. They still see the god, saintly wisdom, that light and spiritual journey limited within the religious boundaries.

Apologies for the bad English and any offence caused

  10. Brought tears to my eyes. Just imagining the immeasurable love of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and of his beloved Sikhs of his time for him. Made me wish how much I desire to behold the blessed vision of his darshan, to die in his beloved arms, like Bhai Maha Singh did. Was wondering just last night . . . it’s been almost 300 years since the mortal form of Guru Gobind Singh Ji left this world. Will an soul like mine ever get a chance to behold his mortal form and soul again . . .

I love this slideshow it is awsome it tells about our indian culture love but Shanti kaurs tells us that baba ajit singh ji was born to mata sundri ji but I heard that mata jito ji was the first wife of guru gobind singh ji and that after guru gobind singh ji died mata sundri ji lead the khalsa for forty yrs. so how did mata jito ji die if she gave birth to the second son baba jujara singh ji because mata sundri ji got married to guru gobind singh ji after the death of mata jito ji

I know it’s hard to make these movies but if u could make one to make us understand

    VahegurooJeeKaaKhalsaVahegurooJeeKeePhatheh jee,

Daas would only like to say we all should do ardas to guru ji to inform us about the truth as we waver and dont understand the truth clearly, we are the moorakhs and have no knowledge. We should ask guru ji if we are wrong show us the right and if others are wrong show them. Please do not think daas is aiming the comment on some/one person but Daas is not talking about others but this includes daas too.

    daas’ personal thought not like it matters but just sharing ;
daas agrees with comments about Mata ajeet kaur/ (jeeto)/ Mata sundar kaur jee /(sundri) and mata sahib kaur ji.She is one jus with different names, mata gujree jee named Mata ajeet kaur > mata sundar kaur /sundri because of her beauty. Mata ajeet kaur did give birth to all four sahibzaade. Mata sahib kaur jees father wanted her to marry guru ji but as guru ji was married they cudnt. But her father requested guru ji that she stayed there to do seva. Mata sahib kaur jee is our spiritual mother as she couldnt marry guru ji due to the fact that guru ji was married to Mata ajeet kaur. Maharaaj made mata sahib kaur our mother as she cudnt have a personal relationship with guru ji and have children so guru ji gave her the khalsa as children. The whole world gives her the respect of the mother of khalsa and guru ji as the father of the khalsa.

If we feel we’re not sure and we need some clearance we should just do ardas to guru gobind singh ji to ask for forgiveness and to help clear the truth.

BhullChukkMaaf karnee daas has made beant mistakes please forgive daas

  18. gurmeet singh says:

    source: wikipedia:

Mata Sahib Kaur is known as the "Mother of the Khalsa". She earned the distinction by instilling the first Amrit with the sweetness that balances its fierceness.
Mata Sundari (Sundari as in one with a beautiful appearance) nicknamed from her actual name Mata Jito Ji was the wife of Guru Gobind Singh; had a gurdwara to her memory in a village called Agampur near Anandpur Sahib. Mata Sundri has a memorial to her at the Bala Sahib Gurdwara in Delhi along with Mata Sahib Kaur.
Many historians try to incorrectly suggest Guru Gobind Singh ji of committing polygamy (having more than one wife) and of having 3 wives the mistake arises in separation of Mata Sundri and Mata Jito as being 2 different people, and of Mata Sahib Kaur being married to Guru Gobind Singh.
Mata Sahib Kaur, who was called 'Sahib Devan' before receiving Amrit, was the Spiritual Mother of the Khalsa, however some historians have mistakenly confused Mata Sahib Kaur as having been married to Guru Gobind Singh.
Mata Sahib Devan's father wished her daughter to marry Guru Gobind Singh, however as the Guru was already married, her father asked the Guru's permission for Mata Sahib Devan to live in the Guru's house as Sikh and serve the Guru and his family. Therefore, Mata Sahib Devan was never married and never had a physical relationship with the Guru. As a consequence of not marrying Mata Sahib Devan and her not being able to have children, Guru Gobind Singh made her the "Mother of the Khalsa". Up to this day in history, all Sikhs who take Amrit consider Mata Sahib Kaur as their (spiritual) Mother, and Guru Gobind Singh as their (spiritual) Father.

please treat with suspicion whoever does not give his/her full name and just a letter such as "j"
they are the rss/hindu conspirators out to destroy sikhism just as guru gobind singhjis bani was corrupted by them by inserting their own nonsense such as "Chandi Charitra"
