Mahan Kalpa Singh and the Pleiadian Thunder Squad

Mahan Kalpa Singh and his son SuryaEvery year the Summer Solstice Camp here in Espanola, New Mexico (USA) attracts spiritual seekers of all kind, from all over the world, and from all walks of life. It is a gathering place where you can interface with people from so many different backgrounds and religions (this year around 1,400 people came). I love the universality and oneness that people with a common spiritual goal but different backgrounds can be together. After all…we are all spiritual beings and human right?

During the week of Summer Solstice I frequently visit the sound booth which is way up high near the top of the huge shelter, and overlooks the main stage area. This is the source for connecting my recording equipment or getting audio recordings (which I have shared with you over the years). The sevadhars in the sound booth are hardcore and always seem to be on duty at all hours, tending to some audio related task. (I think there are at least 10 people on the audio team). There is something happening from around 3AM in the morning till about 11PM every night!

One person who is normally part of the sound team every year at Summer Solstice is Mahan Kalpa Singh. I have met him many times in the sound booth, but never really had a chance to get to know him better. I just recently got to know him better through some awesome music that he created. Little did I know that he was actually a music producer (and a good one!). A few weeks ago I heard about his music from a friend after our normal sunday game of ultimate frisbee. I hunted it down till I got my hands on the audio files and had a chance to listen to it. The music is great and very original, so I wanted to share it with you all too. After emailing Mahan Kalpa he was happy to allow me to post the audio files online for you all.

So, grab some headphones and have a listen to the tracks from his album "Love is Love". My thanks go out to Mahan Kalpa Singh for sharing this music and making it freely available for everyone to enjoy. I hope you make more!

This is the first track of the album which has some great lyrics about about being on a spiritual path.

Breakdown (the ego)
This is one of my favorite audio tracks from the album. It has some amazing intro solo vocals by Meg Anderson chanting the mantra "Ik Ong Kar Sat Guru Prasad" (One Universal Creator God, Realized Through His Blessing).

Ek Ong Kaur Sat Gur Prasad

This track is continual repetition of just the Mantra Ek Ong Kaur Sat Gur Prasad (One Universal Creator God, Realized Through His Blessing).

Merge To One
As you might guess from the title of this track it is kind of a mix of elements from all the previous tracks. I think the title of the track is not really meant as a technical description….but more about merging with God.

About Mahan Kalpa Singh and
the Pleiadian Thunder Squad

"Love is Love"

"I have always been fascinated by recorded sound. I made my first recordings with a friend at the age of 10. One night after watching a Godzilla movie we found his parent’s portable cassette recorder. That night I fell in love with the way recorded sound obliterated linear time and space. I produced and engineered my first commercial album in 1982 at the age of 18. Over the last 25 years I have recorded over 150 albums. I have worked with John Mellencamp, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and Iggy Pop. In 2007 I was presented with a RIAA certified double platinum album award for the Fray’s ‘How to Save a Life.’

I teach Kundalini Yoga at the Midland yoga Center, practice Aquarian Sadhana at the Wah Yantee House of Light Ashram, and record music at the White Ark Studios all in Bloomington Indiana. I am blessed with two wonderful sons (Surya and Paisley) and a beautiful wife (Jote Kaur.).

On the recording of "Love is Love" the Pleiadian Thunder Squad is: Jote, Ardas Kaur, Meg Anderson, and Peter Ermey.

My goal is to serve love." – Mahan Kalpa Singh

    Yeeaaaahhh Mahan Kalpa Ji!!!

These tracks make me so happy, actually they are my favorite soundtrack for jumping on my little mini-trampoline as of late.

Peace to the Aquarian Age and everyone sharing the love in their soul without fear:)

Thank you Mahan Kalpa and thank you Gurumustuk S for sharing this love with all.

    Blessings to Infinity…

His son Surya is really cute. I’m pretty sure I saw both of them at solstice this year.
I actually really like the tracks. Even I was surprised since I hardly listen to anything that isn’t Gurbani these days. The first track really had great lyrics. It wasn’t too hippy or non-sensical (reasons for me not really liking other ‘spiritual’ music) it was pretty nice.

Mahan Kalpa Singh, previously known in this same lifetime as Paul Mahern, was a cult god (lowercase “g”) of the American underground in the 1980s. He was the front man guitarist and lead singer of one of the earliest American Midwestern punk rock bands, Zero Boys… Not to mention later Inddianapolis bands like Dandilion Abortion and Datura Seeds. He produced and put together seminal Midwestern punk rock compilations in the early 1980s (The Master Reel I and II), and was a major force in the Do It Yourself underground rock movement that worked independently of the major music corporations. I haven’t seen him for almost two decades, but I’m glad to learn about his happy life, family and his explorations into the spiritual knowledge that transends our existence in the material world. Salam Aleikum, Sri Bol, Sri Govinda Gopali Jah Rade!!!
