The chola that is taken off the Nishan Sahib is distributed among the sangat. Sangat yearn for the pieces of the chola, to be kept by them as souvenier, as it is not changed very often. I guess just the sentimental value attached to it. I have a piece of it too… the one they changed at our local gurdwara.
WaheGuru jee Ka Khalsa, WaheGuru jee Kee Fatehe
PS. As far wearing different colors of Turban, I donot follow any restriction, but I wear the colors that suit me. White dont suit me, and Maroon and Black are my favorite. Moreover, I searched the web for anything that restricts any particular color to be worn, couldnot find anything.

I was wondering, “What do they do with the one that was taken off”?
