Gurbani Archive Update
On SikhNet we have just added about 1000+ new Gurbani audio tracks to the Gurbani Archive! Over 142,020 minutes and counting. That’s a lot of Gurbani isn’t it? I think that is close to 100 days non stop kirtan. Talk about a long Ransabhai Kirtan Marathon!
In our latest Gurbani addition, we were able to bring you lots of new tracks, from Gurbani Vichar by Panth Rattan Giani Sant Singh Ji Maskeen, to Kirtan by Bhai Guriqbal Singh Ji and many others. For a complete list of all the newly added Gurbani, go to The SikhNet Gurbani Archive and select the “browse Media by” and select the “Date” option. Joginder Singh (pictured right) worked really hard on getting all this done.
Thank you all for your generous donations and helping us share this treasure with rest of the cyber Sangat. It is quite a project archiving, digitizing, organizing all this Gurbani. With the sangat’s support we will continue to expand this archive. In the near future we will be offering Gurbani MP3 downloads from the vast Gurbani Archive to supporting SikhNet members. You can always listen online streaming for free, but to download MP3 files you will have to sign up for a monthly Gurbani Club membership which will support archiving more Kirtan and help cover the costs of running SikhNet. More to come on this when we set this up.

SikhNet Radio
I remember in the early days of SikhNet when I still had a regular full time job with Sun & Son and did SikhNet on “the side”. I used to actually manually run the SikhNet radio program (1996) and play music from CDs and tapes. Nowadays everything is digitized and automated. The picture to the right shows my old “radio setup” with a basic CD/Tape player, mixer, and a microphone that I would some times talk into for fun, giving “shout outs” to friends who were listening. It was good fun…but a lot of work.
SikhNet radio has been broadcasting live on the internet for over 10 years now and is still running strong today. SikhNet radio is a non-stop, commercial free Gurbani radio. You’ll hear a mixture of shabads by hundreds of musicians and thousands of unique tracks from the SikhNet collection.
We got some donations this year to help with the Gurbani Archive so were able to do some much needed improvements and get new equipment. Over the years I have gotten many request from people who listen to SikhNet radio to be able to know what musician or shabad they are listening to. There are so many different areas on SikhNet to maintain so never really found the time to figure out a solution to do that properly. Well, the wait is over. We now have a new broadcast method, so when you listen to SikhNet Radio, the title information will update as the music changes. Cool eh?
Take SikhNet Radio With You on Your Mobile Phone!
Coming soon, those people who have broadband/fast internet access on their mobile phone will be able to listen to SikhNet radio. This is free too. All you need is internet access on your phone. Just start the program, select SikhNet radio, plug in headphones to your phone and you have Gurbani Music to go! No Ipod required. Technology is great. Stay tuned for updates.

gurmustuk
i was just wondering why is the gurbani vichar can be only listen with a real player …
im using winamp player/…
Gurkirpal, All the media is in the RealPlayer format which is optimal for streaming (no downloads) on the internet. We have been using this format for many yeas. Winamp does not support this format. You need realplayer (www.real.com) to listen.
Sorry Gurmustuk I am hijacking your blog because I dont want to go through the sikhnet moderators, this is a real media player file about Baba Vadhbhag Singh Ji people on many forums have misrepresented him and so I want them to watch the video istead of making things up like he was into black magic etc. Thanks and congrats with baby:
