The "may long time sun shine upon you" song is at the end of an unusual, multi-part (10 minute) song called "A Very Cellular Song" written by Mike Heron of the Incredible String Band, definitely an incredible band. It was on their album called "The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" in 1968.
I have looked at this song's origins now for a couple of months now—I first heard the song on a record a boyfriend owned back in 1970. I also bought the record. A month and a half ago, I attended a kirtan concert in Santa Cruz CA with my 25 year old daughter. I was very surprised to hear "When You Find Out Who You Are…" with a DIFFERENT tune and phrasing(!) Hands down, I feel Mike Heron's version is best. I t's very hard to believe that a yoga instructor was just 'given the song' by Incredible String Band. It seems like it's more likely that it was 'appropriated' or actually just stolen. Does anyone know the background to this copyright infringement with Mike Heron's song?

I wish it played longer.
Sat Nam,
I was wondering if you could tell me where the “long time sun shine” song is from and who the original writer is?
