My Mataji on Tour in England

My mataji (Satkirin Kaur - pictured on the right) has been on tour in England the past few days (Aug 22-31) along with Pritpal Singh and others, playing kirtan and teaching. Dr. Savi who runs the SikhWithin podcast did a short interview with her and recorded some of the kirtan. Have a listen below.

JAAP - Gobinday Mukhunday & Ajai Alai

Jaap - CD by Satkirin KaurEver since I can remember My mother Satkirin Kaur has loved to sing and play kirtan. I remember falling asleep at night with her playing the guitar, singing softly as I felt secure and comforted; drifting off to sleep. Since the early 70’s before I was born she was studying raag and playing Gurbani Kirtan. In addition to her classical music, during the past few years she has created quite a few beautiful and unique audio CDs which are geared towards anyone (Sikh or Not). They have some classical elements but have a strong western influence. They are meant for people to chant, meditate and sing along with. It is awesome reading the emails from people (many of whom are not Sikhs) expressing how the meditations and Gurbani/Mantras have effected their lives.

In the past year or so my mother has been working on a new CD series based on mantras/bani from Jaap Sahib. They are meant specifically for chanting and meditation. Her latest CD from the series is titled "JAAP".
