Japji Sahib: The Song of the Soul. Intensive Weekends: 2008

by Ek Ong Kaar Kaur Khalsa www.ekongkaar.blogspot.com

Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh.

Sat Nam and Divine Blessings.

In the first half of 2008, four different centers will be hosting a Japji Sahib weekend in their areas. The weekends will focus on meditation, chanting, a little bit of yoga and much conversation and discussion about the steps that Guru Naanak gives us in Japji Sahib to heal ourselves and find the Love that lives within us.

If it’s possible for you to be there, I would love to see you. Come join me with the sangat, and give yourself the time and space to go deeply into the universal teachings that started the Sikh tradition.

Be a Light

My school friend Hari Narayan. Picture from 1992 from Dehradun, India.

Blessings

An old picture of my brother Dharam and my father Siri Vishnu in Brooklyn, New York as we bless the food before eating. As you can see my brother is quite small in this picture. He is now over 6 foot 4 inches!

Gora Punjab Gunday

Well…they aren’t really Gunday… but do have desi Punjabi style turbans on. This is Sat Puran and Gurudarbar Singh 1992 (?) in Amritsar.

Driving Punjab Style

A cool picture of Sikhs sitting Punjab style on top of the truck.

Friends

Some of my friends from the school days in India after a hike in the mountains of Dharamsala.

Amritsar Ploution

This picture was from 1992-3, and I’m sure the polution hasn’t gotten any better. Ugh! I always get sick with something in my lungs when I got to Amritsar. Now a visit to Harimandir Sahib is always overshadowed by the gross pollution that doesn’t cease. This is one major reason I don’t go to Amritsar as often anymore. I wish the Government would take major steps to deal with this.

In the Mountains of Dharamsala

When I was in Amritsar in 1993 we used to sometimes go to Dharamsala. This was a cool picture from that time while hiking in the mountains. This is a picture of some Tibetan youth with the clouds creeping behind them.

Checkers at Gurdwara

Here is a cool view of the marble floor of the Baba Attal Sahib Gurdwara in Amritsar (just outside Harimandir Sahib). This is a view from the top looking down at my friends. Picture from around 1993
