Honoring Service

Every year when our children come back from school in India at Miri Piri Academy we honor them in front of the sangat for their courage and just being great children. We also honor those who devote so much of their life to serving the children there in India. Jugat Guru Singh (one of my old classmates and friend) along with his wife Guru Dev Kaur (another school friend) have been living and teaching there at the school for many many years. In this picture they are being honored/recognized for their service.

A few weeks back Chardi Kala Jatha came back from India for the summer. Here they are doing Kirtan at our Gurdwara.

Still Here

Well… been resting and healing so haven’t been online. Feeling alot better today (throat) though wrists are still healing. Yesterday afternoon DSL internet connection went down all over New Mexico for our telephone company and Arjan said, “I think it is a sign for your to not be on the computer”. Today will be another rest day I guess, though I am at the office for a bit to check in and make sure there is nothing crucial that I need to respond to.

(Just thought I would let you know in case you were wondering why I haven’t been posting much in the past days here on the blog)

Down Time

I’ve been taking a break from the computer for the past few days. My wrists were really hurting me from all the work in previous weeks so had to make myself take a break. I stayed away from the computer pretty well for two full days and my wrists are feeling much better, so I am sneaking a “quick” bit of computer time to post some pictures. On Saturday after playing a bunch of games of Basketball I started to not feel so good so now have to re-coupe in other ways. I guess it’s my body telling me to rest and take care of myself. What would we do without these signs? Pain and Sickness many times are actually good things that are just your body forcing you to pay attention to it’s needs.

Last night I mustered up the energy to setup our new tent for the upcoming Summer Solstice camp in our back yard. Narayan really wanted to do something fun so I told him that If he did some chores and got ready for bed quickly that I would set it up. Narayan and Arjan ended up sleeping out in the tent last night under the stars. The adventures of being a kid!

I’m excited about the upcoming summer events here in Espanola (few weeks away!). It’s always a fun and exciting time since the camps are awesome and people from all over the world come to our little town Espanola. I’ll be setting up my tent for Summer Solstice camp with the expectation that at any moment I might get a call from Arjan that she is starting labor and the baby is coming. Even though her actual due date is July 3rd…the baby could be early. Luckily cell phones work on the mountain and it’s only about 20-30 minutes from home (mostly just because of the winding dirt road). We are having a home birth (not hospital) which is such a comfortable and personal way to bring your baby into the world.

Momma Arjan and Narayan

You can see how pregnant Arjan is…as her tummy get’s bigger as her due date nears. Here is a picture of her and Narayan saying a prayer before bowing to Siri Guru Granth Sahib.

Brothers

I was taking pictures at the wedding yesterday and I realized that I have almost no pictures of myself and Dharam, so I had someone get a picture of me and my brother Dharam Singh.
