In the summer of 2007 SikhNet hosted an amazing camp "Jaap Sahib – the Song of the Warrior Saint" here in Espanola, New Mexico. It was one of those really experiential camps where you just got charged up with Chardikala! People from all over the world attended.
This summer you have a great opportunity to create change in your life, re-inspire yourself, connect with other Sangat, and just re-charge your "batteries". June 14th – 18th 2009 SikhNet will be hosting another of these events, with the theme this year being "Miri Piri". This is not a little kids camp, but oriented towards young adults on up…to any age (Ages 17-120). I remember one auntie ji who came all the way from England and must have been at least a grand mother (if not great grand mother) and she was really keeping up with everything!
The idea of doing this camp came out of meetings with local Sikh youth wanting to bring youth and Sikhs together from all over the world to interact, unify, learn, and re-inspire each other.
I know many people have expressed an interest in visiting the community here in Espanola, New Mexico. This is another reason to come to this unique camp to have a unique experience with your Sikh brothers and Sisters. The camp is right before the 3HO Summer Solstice Sadhana Camp so the timing is perfect in case you wanted to participate in both events (I will be!).
Details on Camp Miri Piri will be available on SikhNet soon, but in the mean time, if you are intersted I suggest that you start planning ahead so you can join us!
