Women and Turbans

In the below video Shanti Kaur answers the question about why she wears a turban as a Sikh Woman, since in recent times most Sikh women do not wear it. She also speaks about how the women in Khalsa Panth stopped wearing the turban in the time after Guru Gobind Singh ji’s death.

Thanks for yet another great Shanti Kaur video! Her words are golden.

With all due respect, can we use another way to express Guru Sahibaan leaving the human body?  In Punjabi, as you know, we say “Joti Jot Samaae”.  Maybe when “their light absorbed into Waheguru’s light”?  We should start using Sikhi based terms in English.  I’ve also started using the word “Enlightener” for a translation of Guru.

      Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,
Her words are really golden there is no any doubt, but as she say in her  video that its better for a  Sikh if he married to a turben wearing sikh girl!
Now look! I am  an amritdhari sikh man and turben wearing girl is for away me till now I am unable to find any amirtdhari girl for myself. Now this is the reality that there are no girls for amritdhari sikh man so why I am 31 years old still looking for a amritdhari woman.

Shanti Kaur ji’s words echo my feelings.

I am an Amritdhari  Sikh with a keen desire to marry only the one who wears and understands her turban. I’m 33 yrs old and live in Chandigarh, India. (By profession, I’ve been a software engineer since 1.3 yrs).
Unfortunately, today, not many of our own are also in love with our religion, but that’s maybe as God wishes. I just wish, that the woman/girl I find, be more in love with Sikhism, than I am.

Since, I don’t find anything on matrimonial sites, I’m resorting to putting some directed mails/comments like this.
(Just so that my tiny effort bit is completed, though I believe God will do everything).

    Regards

    waheguru ji ka khalsa
    shri waheguru ji ki fateh,
myself jatinder singh. i live in amritsar . firstly i want to say tht please don’t mind ok please don’t use the word “death” to guru ji. because in our gurmukhi language we use word ” joti jot samana”. the “death” word not suitable. our guru ji is not die. they r with us all the time. just they had leave the human body nothing more than tht. ok so please. i hope u don’t mind it. secondly im very impressed with ur video about tht recently sikh women not wearing turban which our guru ji proudly given to them. there r some reason for tht.
. firstly less knowledge about sikhism. u know there so many sikh women who even r amritdhari’s but not follow the rules of amrit. recent time every people including men and womin both they want to to look so much beautiful. they don’t care about all the rules which our guru ji had said to follow . u had said in ur video tht marry to a turban wearing wome.” u know it is also my wish tht i will be married to turban wearing women who follow all the rules of sikhi and i know it is very hard to find but i know anything is not difficult and nothing is impossible, if u have faith in ur guru ji. so with blessing of guru ji i will find my turban wearing singhni soon. once again , very good video. kepp doing all this.
