Friday Remixes

Ok... I know some people might not like this type of music, and feel that it is bad to mix Gurbani with other music, but here I go anways.... What the heck....It's Friday. There were just made for fun and not meant to go clubbing with (drinking/partying). Enjoy with respect :) Both tracks are "House/club" remixed by friends of mine. The first track is a remix by Manpreet singh of a shabad sung by Jagjit Singh

This second track is a remix by our own Espanola "Dj Dubba" (Just a nick name) for Gurudarbar singh. He is one of my classmates and lives here in Espanola. He has turn tables and mixes music for fun, and also for some of our local events. The original music is "Wahe Guru Groove" by Simran Kaur.

So.. enjoy them......or not. Have a good weekend!

    Comment of Wahe guru remix:

    I'm sorry for this!

Voices are great but music is again of Disco type!
The entire point is that Shabad and music should be at same frequency. While I was hearing this clip I felt Dancing rather than meditating. I felt urge to go to the Club rather than to the congregation of the saints....

I guess its not about connecting our minds with God it about connecting our minds with our Mind only...

I believe that in Espanola, there are some of the best opportunities to learn Gurmat Sangeet. Bhai Avtar Singh and Prof. Surinder Singh have offered classes, while two members of your Sangat, Guru Das Singh and Kudrat Kaur, are involved with continuous instruction. I just don't understand how people, who have so much exposure with True Kirtan, can be party to this type of music.

Kirtan is for meditation and contemplation, not for grooving.

It's interesting to read different people's comments on the remixes. Thanks for sharing.

I personally don't have a judgement either way about the music. I like to keep things pretty light...and not get to serious about things like this...since they were done spontaneously just for fun. Not to tour the clubs.

Of course it is not meditative...but someone might enjoy chanting waheguru to it, which I think is great.

Everyone is at a different place and will relate differently. I would rather someone chant waheguru to these tracks...then sing any old "john doe" song. Of course we all have our opinions. Who is right? All of us I think.

As with anything it is your state of mind and how you relate. While I prefer to have the classical and meditative Gurbani... I don't think it is bad to be creative and use Gurbani in other forms of music.

    Anyways...my 2 cents..

I've studied with both Bhai Avtar and Profesor Surinder Singh and consider myself very lucky!
    I really enjoy Gurmat Sangeet.
Sometimes though I just feel like dancing. When I put on the radio or rap music, I know I can move, but it doesn't take long for the lyrics to penetrate. I always know what they're talking about in rap music, even when it is edited. Sometimes I think, why can't we have something more conscious when it comes to music we can move to (or cruise to in my case).
There are times when I'm not going to be listening to Gurbani, and I'd rather hear something nice than something unpleasant which is what most mainstream music is.
Even KRS One, who started the hip-hop temple and is always promoting conscious rap, has yet to really reach past the ghetto in his message.

P.S. I haven't listened to the tracks yet, but I'm hoping I'll like them.

Well I appreciate the creativity, but I don't really like either track.
I'm waiting until somebody remixes "Ain't nothin' but a G thang"
It could be: 'Ain't nothin' but a Ji thing.'
"It's like this and like that and like this...
So just chant until the Amrit Vela."

Also somebody should do "The Next Episode"
    'Hey, Hey, Hey-ee Hey...
    Remember God everyday!'

    Okay I got another:
Instead of "Still Fly," it could be "Still Mind"

"Gratefulness, with my mind in bliss
Aint got no time, to loose my mind
Can't wake up late, go to bed by 8
But that's okay, cause of my still mind"

"I've got a quarter past 3:00, to wake and see
That God's all around, including with me
    Got everything in God's Name,
and I'm enriched, da da daaaa...."

It's not as funny if you've never heard the song. But it's really funny if your listening to the song, like I just was. Listen to the song and sing these lyrics with the same rhythm it will be really funny.

Even though I find this type of music inappropriate, I don't find it any worse than what most of the so-called ragis are doing with their kirtan to Bollywood melodies. I see no reason for calling for the removal of these songs.
